Scott Owen Smith, 72, Orange

Scott Owen Smith, 72, of Orange, Texas, passed away on May 19, 2023, with his daughter by his side in Beaumont, Texas.

Born in Orange, Texas, on December 30, 1950, he was the son of Douglas Owen Smith and Lillie Mae Smith Kingery. Scott was a graduate of Lutcher Stark High School and a veteran of the United States Army.

During his time in the Army, he was stationed at Fort Polk, and actively served in the Vietnam War. Upon leaving the Army, Scott began a career as a mechanic. He was a true motorhead, whether it be working on them or driving them, he loved all things hotrods, trucks, and motorcycles.

Scott enjoyed living a simple life surrounded by his friends and family, going fishing and riding his Harley. He was the life of the party, always laughing, but he was also known for his kind and loving heart. Scott was a humble and hardworking man who loved the lord, and he will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Douglas Owen Smith; mother and stepfather, Lillie Mae and John Henry Kingery; and his sister, Sherry Carter of Orange, Texas.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kelly Marie Smith Langley of Lake Charles, Louisiana; stepdaughters, Kristina Broussard of Orangefield, Texas, and Tiffany Harris of Gosnell, Arkansas; and stepson, Jacob Broussard of Orange, Texas.

He is also survived by his granddaughters, Aleigh Ma’Rea Langley and Kennedi Jade Langley, both of Lake Charles, Louisiana; his best friend, Tim Matlock of Orangefield, Texas; and numerous other loving friends and family.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.
