Born in Shelbyville, Texas, on October 11, 1923, she was the daughter of William O. and Lucille (Beard) Clark. Marcelle was a woman of great faith and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Orange, actively participating in the Joy Sunday School Class. She worked diligently in the lab at DuPont for 30 years after traveling abroad extensively.

Marcelle was later proudly elected as the first female County Commissioner of Orange County. A few years down the line, Marcelle’s daughter went on to be elected as County Commissioner, making them the first mother-daughter duo in the state of Texas to have both held that title. Marcelle was a very independent and determined woman. She was on the National Advisory Board of the Salvation Army and was a very active member in the American Red Cross. Marcelle was also a member of both the Golden Kiwanis Club and the Ivy League Garden Club. She was a Master Gardener; known to have a green thumb and enjoyed working out in her yard as much as she could.

During her free time, Marcelle loved to play a good game of bridge, visit her great-grandchildren in Houston, and eat Dairy Queen with her Lunch Bunch after Sunday services. Marcelle was an inspiration to people everywhere and will be fondly remembered by many.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Cowboy” Adams, Jr.; parents, William and Lucille Clark; sister, Marlene Ward; in-laws, Alan and Inez Hubbard; and brother-in-law, Charles Hubbard.

She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Beauchamp and husband, Frank; companion and dog, Noelle; grandson, Brad Adams Beauchamp and wife, Meagan; great-grandchildren, Mary Merle, Annabelle Marcelle, and Georgia Dale; sister, Margie Henry; and cousins, Betty James, Shirley Thornton, and Mike James. Serving as pallbearers will be Roy Philp, Ebb Moore, Van Vandervort, Chipper Nance, Mike James, Dan Harris, and Scott Hasty. Honorary pallbearer will be Roger Walker.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Marcelle’s caregivers, Tresa Hebert, Myrna Trahan, Elaina Vickers, Rhianna Bullock, and Hospice of South East Texas.

In honor of Marcelle, donations can be made to Trinity Baptist Church in Orange; 1819 North 16th Street, Orange, Texas 77630.
