Orangefield golfers capture Babe Zaharias Awards

The Orangefield golf team received further recognition of its outstanding achievements at the end of this school year during the 13th Annual Babe Zaharias Foundation's Award Ceremony held in Beaumont on May 31. Brothers Xander and Lincoln Parks tied for Boys Golfers of the Year and Todd Trawhon was named the Boys Golf Coach of the Year.

Xander Parks won the Class 3A state golf tournament held in Austin on May 22-23. Younger brother Lincoln Parks helped the Orangefield golf team coached by Todd Trawhon to finish in fourth place in the same state tournament.

This is the second year in a row that the two Orangefield golfers and their coach have been awarded by the Babe Zaharias Foundation. Xander was the Boys Player of the Year and Lincoln was the Boys Underclassman of the Year in 2022 while Coach Trawhon was also selected as the Boys Golf Coach of the Year.

As a senior Xander graduated in May from Orangefield High School and will be attending Jacksonville College in the fall where he plans to continue to compete in golf. Lincoln will be a junior at Orangefield High School next fall and is the lone Bobcat returning from the five-member team for Coach Trawhon to build his golf team around next school year.
