Carrie James Guidry, 84, Orange

Carrie James Guidry, 84, of Orange, Texas, passed away on June 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Carrie was born in Hayes, Louisiana, on February 8, 1939, to parents Allen Reed and Mabel (Sonnier) Reed. Carrie had a kind heart and lived every day for her family. A compassionate and hard-working woman, she was always ready to help friends and family whenever needed. She loved Zydeco music and dance.

She enjoyed fishing, gardening and anything that kept her outdoors. A proud retiree of the LCM school district, she served as a teacher's aide for many years. Carrie bled purple and gold as there was not a more avid fan of LSU. Geaux Tigers!

She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Don James and Andrew Guidry; brothers, Allen Reed and Golden Reed; son, Dean James, and brother-in-law Archie Fontenot. She is survived by sisters Sundra Fontenot and Nola Reed; her children Cindy Briggs (Richard), David James, Charlene Guest (Ronald), Derek James (Amanda); grandchildren, Rachel Farias (Austin), Samantha Raggio (Jared), Ryan Guest (Melanie), James Guest (Shelby), Taylor Isenhower (Travis), Alexis James (Dalton); great grandchildren Kamryn, Keely, Cullen, Avery, Ayden, Sam, Adelyn, Allie, Greyson and one more, Sawyer, on the way.

The family would like to thank all family, friends, and professionals who helped bring our mother comfort, joy, and laughter throughout her life and especially the past few years. Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

In remembrance, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Carrie's honor.
