Bearden and Swanton sign scholarships

Two Bridge City Cardinal baseball players signed scholarships on Monday, July 10, to play at the college level. JS Bearden III and Brice Swanton signed their scholarships in the competition gymnasium at Bridge City High School.

Bearden played outfield and was a middle relief pitcher for the Cardinals. JS will still be wearing Cardinal red next season when he joins the Lamar University baseball team.

Swanton was the shortstop for the Cardinals his four years on the varsity becoming only the second player at Bridge City to play in ninety-three varsity baseball games. Brice will play in the north Dallas area with the Brookhaven College Bears.

Head baseball coach Chad Landry expressed his appreciation of the work done and the great play provided by Bearden and Swanton in their years with the Bridge City baseball program. "Just understand from here on out who represent. That's your family and Bridge City Cardinal baseball going forward. We're extremely proud of you, and you've earned this opportunity to play at the next level," Landry responded.
