Maplecrest Baptist hosts Conservative Christian speakers

Maplecrest Baptist Church in Vidor will host a "Faith, Family, Freedom" conference featuring two speakers prominent in the Conservative Christian movement against homosexual and transgender rights, and promotion of laws to prohibit abortion.

The conference will begin the evening of Friday, August 18, and then with all-day sessions on Saturday. The speakers will be Abraham Hamiliton III, a lawyer who serves as general counsel and public policy analyst for the American Family Association. He is also a father and home-school advocate.

The other speaker will be David Waller, who is pastor of the independent Fairpark Baptist Church in Fort Worth, and is considered a leader in the fundamentalist movement in Texas.

Registration for the conference is $15 for adults 18 and older, and $5 for children ages 5-17. The fee includes lunch on Saturday.

The introduction for the conference reads "Our nation is in chaos! Our freedom has been trampled and our history desecrated, our children sexualized, our church invaded by Woke ideology. If you are like us, we know that you are alarmed about our nation and the direction we are headed."

Friday's first session will be from 6 to 7:15 p.m. with Waller as the leader, followed by Hamilton from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Then on Saturday, Waller will begin at 9 a.m., with Hamilton at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be from 11:30 to 12:45, when break-out sessions for men and ladies will be held. Hamilton will lead the men and Kathy Covey will lead the ladies. Waller will then be the lead at the 2 p.m. session with Hamilton at 3 p.m. followed by a children's presentation at 4 p.m. and fellowship at 5 p.m.

The church is at 17684 Interstate 10 and the number to call for registration or more information is 409-769-3567.
