Lady Cardinals still flying high in volleyball

The Bridge City Lady Cardinals continue to fly high atop the district volleyball standings. The Lady Cardinals are 4-0 entering this week's action.

Bridge City won both of its matches last week. Tuesday was a great five-set win for the Lady Cardinals over the Vidor Lady Pirates.

Vidor took the first set 25-23 before Bridge City won the next two sets 25-15 and 25-8 to take the lead. The Lady Pirates grabbed the fourth set 25-22 to force the deciding fifth set which the Lady Cardinals won 15-8 to capture the victory.

Senior Demi Carter was a force with 22 kills, 6 digs, and served 5 aces for the Lady Cardinals. Makenna Knight had 12 kills with 7 digs. Cambree LaComb setup 38 points with assists while also contributing 14 digs.

Bridge City's Hensley Morgan continued her strong play at the net with 5 kills. Libero Lexi Nugier made 16 digs and served 4 aces. Kaylee Britten on the back line made 8 digs.

On Friday Bridge City hosted Lumberton and pulled off a three-set victory with all the scores within five points. The Lady Cardinals won the sets 25-22, 25-20, and 25-20.

The leader for the Lady Cardinals was again Demi Carter who had 21 kills and 8 digs. Cambree LaComb had a marvelous evening with 32 assists, 6 kills, and 6 digs for Bridge City.

Strong performances were turned in by Makenna Knight with 7 kills and 4 digs, while Hensley Morgan made 5 kills. Lexi Nugier led the Lady Cardinals with 14 digs.

The Lady Cardinals play two matches this week. On Tuesday Bridge City played at Jasper and on Friday the Lady Cardinals are at home against West Orange-Stark.
