Geneva Wickware, 88, Orange

Geneva was a loving Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was born in Winnfield, La on July 29, 1935.

Geneva graduated high school in Winnfield and moved to Texas shortly after to begin her life after marrying John Kusnir, deceased.

Geneva had two children, Joey and Alice. Geneva and her family attended First Baptist Church in Port Arthur, where she taught 2nd grade Sunday School.

Upon moving to Bridge City, TX in 1976, she moved her membership to First Baptist – BC, where she is still a membeGeneva was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 262 out of Port Arthur. She became Worthy Matron in 1986. Early on, Geneva attended Port Arthur college and was snatched up by a Legal firm before she completed her course of study. She was known at the courthouse as a "stickler" who never made mistakes in her paperwork. After leaving the Law firm industry, Geneva became the Manager of several apartment complexes in Orange, TX. She later married Robert (Bob) Wickware, deceased. Geneva met Bob through First Baptist, BC.

The couple enjoyed outings with other church members, as well as visiting their children in various cities in Texas. Geneva is best known for her generosity and general caring for other people. She was always baking pies for the sick, or downhearted. She made it a priority to visit the local hospitals and nursing homes on a regular basis. Geneva was a very independent individual who never asked for help.

At 80 years old, she was still out mowing her yard, cleaning gutters and keeping an immaculate house. In the end, Dementia took control over her mind and body.

Geneva moved to Waco, TX in 2018 where she lived out her remaining years.

Geneva was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Wallace; two sisters: Lillian Carter & Julian Godek; two brothers: Vernon Wallace & Philip Wallace.

Geneva is survived by her daughter Alice Norris of Waco, TX, three grandchildren Amber Patteson, Codi Horacek & husband Devon and Heidi Medford, three great grandchildren: Cutter Patteson, Abbey Patteson, and Wrenley Horacek, her brother Ted Wallace, a niece, Sharon Pollard and husband Bruce, a nephew, Luther (Sonny) Carter and wife MaryEllen, along with other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Officiating will be Reverend Bob Boone. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will begin prior to the service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
