The Bridge City Lady Cardinals completed the first half of the district volleyball schedule undefeated and in first place. The Lady Cardinals won all six matches while dropping only three sets in the process.
The last week of September saw Bridge City pull off three-set sweeps of Jasper on Tuesday and on Friday against West Orange-Stark. The two wins gave the Lady Cardinals four sweeps in their first six matches to begin the district.
The scores on Tuesday were 25-17, 25-12, 25-18 for Bridge City at Jasper. The Lady Cardinals were led by Demi Carter with 15 kills. Makenna Knight was stellar with 9 kills, 8 aces, and 10 digs. Hensley Morgan made 5 kills.
Setter Cambree LaComb had 31 assists and 7 digs. Libero Lexi Nugier made 14 digs and Kaylee Britten had 10 digs from the back row.
Friday's victory by Bridge City at home against West Orange-Stark capped the undefeated first half of the district. The Lady Cardinals won 25-4, 25-7, 25-10.
Demi Carter led in kills with 11 and served 10 aces. Makenna Knight matched Demi with her 11 kills. Kaylynne Christian and Hensley Morgan had 7 and 6 kills respectfully. Lexi Nugier made 6 digs and Kaylee Britten had 5 digs. Cambree LaComb led in assists with thirty.
Tuesday of this week Bridge City played at home against Silsbee. The Lady Cardinals next match is Friday, October 6, at Little Cypress Mauriceville against the second place Lady Bears.
