Orangefield had a good weekend in girls basketball

The Orangefield Junior Varsity girls basketball team took first place in the Gold Bracket at the Bridge City Classic basketball tournament going undefeated in four games

The football season came to end for Orangefield the second weekend of November, but Bobcat fans can begin to root for their boys and girls basketball teams. Orangefield had a great weekend for the girls varsity and junior varsity basketball teams.

The varsity Lady Bobcats won 57-20 over Newton at the Orangefield Gymnasium on Saturday, November 11. The win moved Orangefield to 2-0 on the young season.

The Junior Varsity played in the Bridge City Classic over the weekend. In the tournament the Orangefield JV advanced to the championship game in the Gold Bracket with wins over East Chambers, Little Cypress Mauriceville and Port Arthur Memorial. The Lady Bobcat JV defeated the Port Neches-Groves Junior Varsity 34-27 to take first place in their bracket.

Madison McCormack was the leading scorer for the Lady Bobcats with 11 points. Kendall Sullivan scored 10 points and was all over the court for the Orangefield JV with 11 steals and 4 rebounds. Olivia Smith contributed 6 points and was strong on the boards grabbing 7 rebounds. Eliese Gravett also scored 6 points and made 2 assists in the win.
