Gary Keith Fontenot, 70, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on January 10, 2024, peacefully at home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Keith Royal, Cap Hollier, and Rick Trahan. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Born in Beaumont, Texas, on May 22, 1953, he was the son of Cliff Joseph and Beverly Jean (Rossman) Fontenot. Gary served in the United States Navy. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of duty and honor that he carried throughout his life. Gary worked as an operator for Total Energies. He approached his work with dedication and professionalism, always giving his best. Gary's love for his family knew no bounds. Being by their side brought him immeasurable joy, and he prioritized their happiness above all else. Gary had several hobbies and interests that brought him immense pleasure. As a longtime golfer at Babe Zaharias Golf Course, he enjoyed spending hours on the greens perfecting his swing. The serenity of fishing also captivated him. Whether it was casting a line at sunrise or waiting patiently for that elusive bite. A man who appreciated the outdoors, Gary relished in spending time surrounded by nature's beauty. Gary’s memory will forever be treasured by family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Beverly Fontenot. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura “Laurie” Lorraine Baker; daughters, Christy Higginbotham and husband, Shorty of San Augustine, Megan Fontenot and husband Kyle Kistner of Bridge City, and Bree Fontenot of Austin; step-son, Everette Baker and wife Ashley; grandchildren, Coby, Blake, Tucker, Keira, and Madison; great grandchildren, Kayden and Kreadan; brother, Billy Fontenot; as well as other loving family and friends.
