William D. "Bill" Conway, 95, West Orange

William D. Conway “Bill” passed away January 13, 2024. Bill was born on June 29th, 1928, in Prague, Oklahoma and resided in West Orange, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Conway Sr. and Martha Conway, wife Mary “Pansy” Conway of 52 years, daughter Glenda Vincent, son Mike Conway, and his great-grandchildren, Bennet Vincent and Jade Conway.

He is survived by his his son, Randy and wife Melodi Conway, Son in law, Larry Vincent, grandchildren; Kirk Vincent, Kim Vincent, Kevin Vincent and wife Marissa, Andrew Conway and wife Meagan, Robbie Conway, Cody Conway and wife Phoung ; his great grandchildren; Gentry Vincent and Kadence Conway, and his fur baby Buddy.

Bill was the prime example of a true American Hero. He served his country for over 40 years, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps as a young teenager from 1945-1948 in World War 2; U.S. Army from 1948-1957 in the Korean War, the U.S. Navy as a Navy Seabee in the Vietnam War from 1960-1984, and ended his tremendous military career in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1984-1988. He retired as an operator from Chevron, Orange, TX. One thing Bill was more devoted to more than his country, was his family. Bill and his wife took yearly trips to Destin, FL where he brought his family members to build life lasting memories. He attended every school event and sports event for his children and grandchildren. If you have ever met Bill, you know he never met a stranger. He loved talking everyone’s ears off and was loved by many.

Visitation will be held at Claybar Funeral Home Thursday, January 18th at 11:00 a.m. with graveside services and military honors at 1:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Orange, TX. The family welcomes family, friends, and the community celebrate the life of Bill to send this soldier out with the gratitude he deserves.
