King Jerry and Queen Susan Pennington presided over the 20th annual Orange Mardi Gras ball held this past Saturday. In the center is Kenneth Wheeler, who served as captain of the ball. The festivities included honoring past kings and queens, including Betty Harmon, escorted by her daughter, Debora Harmon Lanciaux, and past king Paul Burch. Betty and her late husband, Corky, were queen and king the second year. Also featured were former King and Queen John and Glynnis Gothia. The Penningtons will be riding in their elaborate costumes during the big Krewe of Krewes Mardi Gras parade through downtown Orange at 6 p.m. Saturday, February 3.
