Jack Ben Stout, II, 91, Bridge City

Jack Ben Stout, II, 91, of Bridge City, Texas, went to be with the Lord while surrounded by loved ones at his home on January 26, 2024.

Born in Houston, Texas, on January 14, 1933, he was the son of John “Jack” Benjamin Stout and Annie Corinne Mackrell Stout. Jack graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas, in 1951 and from The University of Texas in Austin in 1956, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. Jack married the love of his life, Lynda Ruth Isaacson, in the summer of 1956. They moved to Orange, Texas, and then to Bridge City. He then earned his Professional Engineer License and worked as a project engineer at Quantum Chemical (previously Arco Polymers) in Port Arthur and as a consultant for over 40 years. Jack has been a member of St. Paul Methodist Church since 1959 and served in multiple administrative roles. He spent many hours volunteering at Orange Christian Services, Richter Program, Bridge City/ Orangefield Ministerial Alliance, and UMCOR Sager Brown Disaster Relief. Jack and Lynda, his beloved wife of 67 ½ years, were seasoned world travelers. Their destinations included China, Africa, Australia, Europe, and a plethora of road trips across the U.S.A. Poppa Jack was known for his curious mind and his deep interest in science and history. He enjoyed gardening, reading, boating, hunting, and fishing. The mountains were always calling him. He was a deeply devoted husband, father, Poppa, and brother and will be deeply missed.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Corinne Stout; grandson, Sterling Bradley Freeman; parents-in-law, Capt. Albert “Ike” Isakson and Addie Ruth Dailey Isakson; brother-in-law, Don Higbee; and nephew, David Higbee.


He is survived by his loving wife, Lynda Ruth Isaacson Stout; children, Jack Stout, III (Robin), Tracey Stout Rossi (Dr. Matthew), Jamie Stout Freeman (Brad), and Scott Stout (Lisa); 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sisters, Corinne Higbee, and Jeanette Killingsworth (Ben); sister-in-law, Ronnie Jo Isakson Cohee; brothers-in-law, Robert “Bob” Isakson (Doris), and Albert “Bud” Isakson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Stout, Cameron Stout, Bradley Freeman, Ethan Stout, Evan Stout, Brandon Oliver, Cody Mire, and Craig Pachar.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Nicholas Rossi, Patrick Riordan, Dr. Vincent Rossi, Aldo Rossi, and Matthew Napier-Jameson.


Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 29, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home, 800 Highland Drive, Bridge City, Texas 77611. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at St. Paul Methodist Church. 1155 West Roundbunch Road, Bridge City, Texas 77611. Reverend Mark Bunch of St. Paul Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange, Texas.

The Stout family would like to thank the many health care workers and personal care assistants involved in the medical support of Poppa Jack.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul Methodist Church, 1155 West Round Bunch Road, Bridge City, TX 77611.
