Orangefield boys and girls compete in golf

Lincoln Parks finished first at the Larry Paine Memorial Invitational which helped him and his Orangefield teammates Cole Sanches, Peyton Revia, Branden Greenway, and Gavin Gravett grab third place as a team

Boys and girls high school golf teams competed at tournaments last week in Jefferson County. The girls played at the Babe Zaharias Golf Course in Port Arthur while the boys competed in Beaumont at the Bayou Din Golf Course.

Orangefield girls Parker Donnaud, Jordyn Rucker, Blake Steele, Lela Francis, Rylie Kethan, Mollie Meyer, and Abby Slaughter competed at Babe Zaharias in Port Arthur

The Larry Paine Memorial Invitational was held on Thursday at Bayou Din. Lincoln Parks of Orangefield played marvelously shooting a 69 to take home the first place medal by three strokes from the second place finisher. In three tournaments this season Parks has finished second, third, and now first.

Orangefield had its best team score of the year at 335 to grab third place behind Port Neches-Groves and Nederland. Other Orangefield golfers behind Parks were Cole Sanches (81), Peyton Revia (92), Branden Greenway (93), and Gavin Gravett (103).

Bridge City's A team performed well too with all five of its members breaking 95. Luke Campbell (82), Brayton Taggre (84), Tyler Fults (91), Braydon Denison (93), and Keagan Trahan (94) combined to shoot 350 as a team.

The Orangefield Lady Bobcat golfers competed on Monday in Port Arthur at Babe Zaharias. The team consisted of Jordyn Rucker (110), Abby Slaughter (112), Lela Francis (113), Rylie Kethan (115), and Blake Steele (120). Other medalist for Orangefield were Mollie Meyer (119) and Parker Donnaud (120).
