BC chamber planning (hot air) balloon festival

Last updated 4/2/2024 at 8:48pm

Light up Saturday, September 14, on the calendars because the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce hopes to illuminate the dark that night with a hot air balloon festival.

Chamber Director Mandy Lyda said plans have not been finished, yet, but the event is set for that date at the Bridge City Elementary-Intermediate school area off West Roundbunch Road.

The event will allow the public to see hot air balloons lit and glowing in the night. The festival will include vendors with arts and crafts, food trucks, and booths, along with live entertainment.

"We were looking for something fresh and new to this area," Lyda said.

The chamber already has one major industrial sponsor and is looking for more business, industrial, and individual sponsorships. In addition, people may begin reserving booth or food vendor spaces through the chamber.

The chamber phone number is 409-735-5671 and it is at 150 West Roundbunch Road. Vendor reservations and inquiries about sponsorships may be made through the chamber.

Lyda said the chamber members are hoping this year will draw people from around the area to Bridge City. If it is successful, the festival may grow for the next year.

Plans are still being made for any admission charges and details about the hot air balloons that will be attending.
