Entergy plant plans night construction

People in Bridge City will see another construction traffic problem this week as the new Entergy Orange County Advanced Power Station has night work.

Crews will be working from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. on April 7 through April 14. The current phase of work will involve laying concrete foundations to support the new power plant.

Entergy said residents near the project zone should prepare for increased truck traffic during the next few weeks. People traveling in the area should be cautious in the work zone.

The company announced in late 2022 that it would build the new plant near its old one in Bridge City. The company predicts the project will provide 7,000 jobs during construction and 27 permanent jobs, along with adding $1.8 billion in economic impact to Southeast Texas.
