Harbert announces run for Mayor of Bridge City

My name is Carl Harbert and I would like to announce that I am running for Mayor of Bridge City. I have lived in Bridge City for the last 39 years. My wife Theresa and I raised our children here. We are members of First Baptist Church-Bridge City. I am a retired Plant Manager/Operations Manager of a fertilizer plant in Beaumont.

I recently served four years on the Bridge City City Council. While serving on City Council, I focused on getting drainage problems resolved and roads repaired. I currently volunteer at the Bridge City Municipal Court where I am certified to assist our citizens through the Court process.

I love our small town and believe we all can see the need for improvements as our city continues to grow. Our City is growing by leaps and bounds and our infrastructure needs improvements to keep up with the growth, starting with our sewer system and sewer plant. Our City has made great strides with improving drainage, although digging ditches only solves part of the problem. We also need to clean out our plugged culverts as well as maintain ditches. Although many streets have been improved, there are several more that need attention. I am fully prepared to work with and support the City employees as we continue to work toward improving the City, just as I did when I served you as City Councilman.

I would like to pursue more improvements to our water. Although we have a new well for our water supply, we should strive to continue to look towards the future. I would also like to see fire hydrants flushed on a scheduled basis.

I truly desire to get the Peoples Voice back into our City government. I believe that citizens should be allowed to put their concerns on the agenda and then have a Council Member assigned to assist in that item.

If elected, I would like to keep open communication between City government and the citizens. I would invite input from all of our Citizens. Communication is the key to making the City a better place to live. I would appreciate your support and your vote. Thank you.
