Food pantry needs help with stock

Last updated 4/16/2024 at 8:36pm

The Salvation Army of Orange County is once again looking for food donations to stock their pantry so local individuals and families can get help so they are not hungry.

Board President Katie Durio said businesses and clubs are welcomed to hold food drives to help. Individual donations are also needed and may be taken to the local Salvation Army at 1950 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Orange. The office opens weekday mornings at 9 a.m.

Foods donated should not be past their expiration dates. Also, the pantry cannot accept yard eggs or homemade items.

Foods needed include shelf-stable milk, cereal, oatmeal, breakfast items, pasta, boxed macaroni and cheese, pasta sauce, rice or rice mixes, dried or canned beans, cans or pouches of meats, chicken or fish, canned or packaged fruits, peanut butter and jelly, soups, and prepackaged non-refrigerated microwave meals.

The pantry also welcomes baby food, but cannot accept baby formula.

Donations of unopened personal hygiene supplies such as toothbrushes, shampoos, soaps, lotions, razors, adult and pediatric diapers and wipes, plus toilet paper are also given to people in need.
