Lamar State College Orange breaks record for number of spring graduates

Despite a challenging year full of a global pandemic, two hurricanes within a 6-week period, and a disruptive winter storm, Lamar State College Orange (LSCO) will graduate 175 students on May 15th, an all-time record for a Spring graduation. In fact, this number represents a 40% increase over last year's number of Spring graduates.

"If the students at Lamar State College Orange are one thing, it's resilient. Despite a year of unthinkable challenges, more students than ever committed to – and followed through – on their dreams of achieving their educational goals. We couldn't be prouder to celebrate their record-breaking accomplishments this Saturday at graduation," said President Thomas Johnson, Ed.D.

This graduation also breaks the Spring record for number of degrees conferred, with 263 awards, a 25% increase over last year's May graduation. Additionally, this Saturday will see the graduation of the first Early College High School cohort from West Orange-Stark High School. These ten high school students have taken college courses from 9th- 12th grade and will graduate with an Associate Degree before they graduate high school.

Due to social distancing needs, LSCO will hold its graduation this Saturday, May 15th, at the Carl A. Parker Multipurpose Center on the campus of Lamar State College Port Arthur, with ceremonies at 1pm and 3pm.
