Boys’ Haven will host the 3rd annual “Sweetheart Dessert Fantasy,” from 6-11 p.m., Sat., Feb. 9, at Ford Arena Exhibit Hall. Tickets for the event start at $35 for a single ticket, $50 for couples with patron reserved tables available for parties of 10 or more. For ticket information call Boys’ Haven 866-2400. Attire for the event is dressy-casual. Proceeds from the event benefit Boys’ Haven.

Guests can expect to delight in a wine and dessert tasting, with desserts ranging from tiramisu, Coca-Cola cake, and many other gooey, chocolate treats.

“It’s a relaxed atmosphere where everyone can have a good time,” said Donna Turchi, executive director for Boys’ Haven, adding, “It gives people a chance to have an evening of fun with family and spouses. A real social event where people can enjoy some good food, great music, while trying some new desserts.”

“Mid-Life Crisis” will perform live music from genres of classic rock-and-roll and R & B. Their song list includes everything from Mustang Sally to Midnight Hour.

“We bring the past to the present just playing that good ‘ole classic rock-and-roll,” says David Perkins, lead guitarist.

Along with the dessert, guests will have the opportunity to participate in both a live and silent auction. Guests can bid on big-ticket items during the live auction such as: a one-week stay in a condominium in Cozumel, Mexico; $500 gift-certificate from Hadley's Furniture; a guitar from Guitar and Banjo; a two-night stay at Elegante Hotel; a pop-art vase with gold overlay from Alter's Gem Jewelry; a motor-cross jacket donated by Golden Triangle Cycle Center, and a ruby necklace and ring set from Kay Jewelers.

The silent auction bid items include items and gifts from Trendy’z Unique Boutique, Bella Bella, Gigi’s Children Boutique, Rusti's Shoe Box, Bath Junkie, and Classic Design to name a few.

"This is such a nice event. I think it's great to have fun while raising money for the boys. Boys' Haven has been helping families for over 60 years. I didn't realize that it cost over $25,000 for one child a year," said Ettie Thompson, event chairperson.

In its first year, “Sweetheart Dessert Fantasy” raised around $60,000.

Beverly Brooks, news-anchor for KBMT 12, is this year’s Mistress of Ceremony.

She will be introducing special guests and describing the live auction items. For tickets or additional information, please contact Boys’ Haven, 866-2400.

Boys’ Haven is a non-profit basic care facility for boys ages 8-17. It was founded in 1945 by the Beaumont Optimist Club and has served more than 1,500 boys throughout Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana since its creation more than 60 years ago.
