Mauriceville held annual tree lighting

Last updated 12/12/2012 at Noon

The city of Mauriceville held their annual tree lighting on Dec. 4. Even though it rained all day, that didn’t stop Santa, Butch Broussard, from riding into to town on his three-wheel motorcycle with his escort, newly elected Pct. 2 Constable David Cagle. Carols sung at the lighting were led by Kevin Brown, who was also the Master of Ceremonies.

The lights, donated by Pct. 2 Commissioner Owen Burton and wife Nelda, and Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Derry Dunn, were hung on the 21 foot tall tree by Maverick Communication. Carter was in charge of the tree setup. Candy was graciously donated by Mr. Al, the manager of Market Basket in Mauriceville. Hot chocolate and cookies were served by Santa’s Elves, Sherry Miner and Windy Durham.
