After the family barbecues and long weekend getaways, residents can go to the Convention and Visitors Bureau Labor Day Celebration at the pavilion located on the Sabine River in downtown Orange.

City officials intentionally planned the event Monday evening to make sure as many people as possible would be able to attend this family oriented event. In addition, the time is not too late so everyone attending the event can get home at a reasonable time, according to Jay Trahan, Director of Economic Development for the City of Orange.

The band, Traveling Roads, will perform a free concert from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. They perform a large genre of music for all to enjoy. The band will perform their rendition of songs made famous by artists such Eric Clapton, Carrie Underwood, Jimmy Buffet, the Eagles, Beatles and many more.

Following the concert, there will be a fireworks display at 8:30 p.m. by the same company who once amazed many people by the beauty of what they were seeing.

“Pyrotecnico is the same fireworks company that was associated with the recent Bassmasters fishing tournament held at the city boat ramp, ” Trahan said. “It was a spectacular show.”

Everyone is encouraged to bring chairs or blankets to the event. However, no dogs or pets are allowed.

Parking will be allowed at the Lutcher Theater, Lamar State College-Orange, the Orange County Administration Building and the public library.

“The City of Orange is excited to host the Labor Day concert and fireworks display at the new riverfront boardwalk and pavilion in downtown Orange,” Trahan said.

Trahan wants to thank Russell Covington with Beacon Maritime for allowing the fire sight for the fireworks display to be on Harbour Island.
